If you choose to stay in an hotel or lodge by the lochside, the drive along the road to the river will certainly set you up for the day’s fishing. Loch Eck has to be one of the most beautiful stretches of water in Scotland.
At 11 km long and with a maximum depth of 43 metres, it has the distinction of being one of only two lochs in the country (Loch Lomond being the other) that hold the rare powan, a kind of freshwater whitefish. The chances of catching one are more than remote but if you ever do… put it back very quickly!
Syndicate owners have the exclusive use a new boat with an outboard motor that can accommodate three anglers quite comfortably. River keeper Colin Scott can make the arrangements.
Through the summer and autumn sea trout will come to the fly over much the loch and particularly towards the top end.
